Ταϊβάν: Σεισμός 6,4 Ρίχτερ στα νότια της χώρας

Σεισμική δόνηση μεγέθους 6,4 βαθμών της κλίμακας Ρίχτερ έπληξε μια ορεινή περιοχή στα νότια της Ταϊβάν κοντά στην πόλη Τσιάγι, ανακοίνωσε η μετεωρολογική υπηρεσία του νησιού, με αναφορές για πρώτες μικρές ζημιές.

Ο σεισμός ταρακούνησε κτίρια στην πρωτεύουσα Ταϊπέι. Ο σεισμός είχε βάθος 9,4 χιλιομέτρων με επίκεντρο την κωμόπολη Ντάπου, ανακοίνωσε η μετεωρολογική υπηρεσία.

Η πυροσβεστική υπηρεσία δήλωσε ότι δύο άνθρωποι τραυματίστηκαν σε ένα κτίριο που υπέστη ζημιές στην πόλη Ταϊνάν.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 occurred only 10 minutes ago 21 km northeast of Yujing, Taiwan, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.

The quake hit at a shallow depth of 16.70 km beneath the epicenter near Yujing, Tainan, Taiwan, after midnight on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025, at 12:17 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 5.9. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 5.9.

Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area of the epicenter. It might have caused light to moderate damage.

Moderate shaking probably occurred in Yujing (pop. 16,600) located 21 km from the epicenter.

In Tainan City (pop. 771,200) located 51 km from the epicenter, Douliu (pop. 104,700) 54 km away, Taitung City (pop. 109,600) 74 km away, Kaohsiung City (pop. 1,519,700) 76 km away, Nantou City (pop. 105,700) 76 km away, Yuanlin (pop. 124,700) 81 km away, Zhongxing New Village (pop. 25,500) 81 km away, and Puli (pop. 86,400) 89 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
